Trained staff are essential for the productivity and success of a business. When it comes to accounting, it is of the utmost importance that accurate reports are produced in a timely manner. That’s because these reports are inevitably used to make important day-to-day decisions in a business. In their absence or if the reports produced are inaccurate, it stands to reason that the best business decisions simply cannot be made. Worst-case scenario, harm may actually be caused to the business by the decisions made.

When training staff on the use of any particular software, we do not merely focus on the technical “how to” aspect. While that is important in itself, it is only but one part. We work to ensure that the staff understands the “why” behind what they’re doing. There are numerous benefits for people knowing why they are doing something, as well as understanding why it’s important. In a nutshell, generally, people take “ownership”. They are comfortable troubleshooting minor problems by themselves, know when they should be asking to help on larger issues, pay attention to tax filings (e.g. HST) and other deadlines, and tend to double-check for accuracy before producing reports as final.

Currently the accounting software we offer training on are NewViews, QuickBooks, and Sage 50. Training may be one-on-one, or in a group setting. As much as possible, we customize our training to address the specific needs of our trainees.

We have also had numerous requests from people interested in learning more about personal finance such as mortgages, RRSP, TFSA, etc. While we currently do not offer a special course for this, it is something we are seriously considering.
